TNA reportedly dropping two PPVs in 2013

The fall-out from TNA shifting Lockdown from April to March in 2013 is two PPVs being cut, according to the Wrestling Observer.

As of right now, the February PPV (Against All Odds) and the September PPV (No Surrender) will be cut. This would create a two-month bridge from January’s Genesis PPV to Lockdown in March, then August’s Hardcore Justice PPV to Bound for Glory in October.

The 2013 BFG Series would be affected since TNA previously held the BFG Series semi-finals and finals at No Surrender. TNA would presumably shift the finals to an episode of Impact setting up the main event of their biggest PPV of the year in front of the most eyeballs.

Concerning two PPVs being cut, TNA president Dixie Carter has not been a fan of 12 PPVs per year for some time. It now appears that TNA has negotiated a deal with their PPV partners to deliver 10 events per year starting next year.

Exactly six months ago during a TNA conference call, Carter said she wants TNA to focus on “quality over quantity” with their PPVs. At the time, Carter said they were aiming to renegotiate PPV contracts to “hopefully see that change in 2013.”

Carter said on May 30 that she does not have an ideal number of PPVs per year in mind, but hinted at the new number for 2013. “Six? Eight? I’d be happy with 10,” she said.

Carter did say that 12 events per year make money for TNA, so they would have to fill the revenue elsewhere. She said if TNA can improve the quality of the PPVs and grow the buys to make up for dropping two PPVs, then it will be feasible.

It appears that allowing for a longer build-up to Lockdown and Bound for Glory would make up for dropping two “off-brand” PPVs, if the build-up is properly executed.

Cena dating ex-Diva?

WWE top star John Cena was spotted with former WWE Diva Nikki Bella at the Bella Twins’s high-school reunion in Arizona last weekend. TMZ picked up the story on Friday and released photos of Cena “getting up close and personal” with Nikki on the dance floor.

A full photo gallery circulated here showing Cena with Nikki and WWE tag champion Daniel Bryan with Brie. (Bryan and Brie are reportedly an item, but it’s unclear if Cena is dating Nikki or if he was just her date for the evening.)

TMZ noted that Cena appeared to be close to Nikki “just months after sealing his divorce” from ex-wife Elizabeth Huberdeau.
